Dog Festival this weekend!

We aren't just about horses here at the VHCF - we welcome all sorts of animals on our grounds every year and look forward to dog agility trials, 4H competitions, and community events like the dog festival this weekend! Read on....

Organized by dog lovers, the Celebration of the Dog Festival will take place at the Virginia Horse Center Foundation on Saturday, April 21st from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and is free to families and their dogs.

The festival is designed so everyone will have a fun day. There will be vendors, demonstrations, educational seminars, food, games and contests. There will be face painting for kids and dogs can have their photos taken with Santa Paws or their caricature drawn by Josh Ronnenberg. Activities will include a Costume contest, Bark for Life, and an Agility Rally Presentations will be available by dog breeders, groomers, boarders, veterinarians and trainers.

The third annual American Cancer Society Bark for Lifewill be held from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Bark for Life is a non-competitive walk-a-thon aimed at raising awareness and funds for the fight against human and animal cancers. The Bark for Life will begin at 10:15 a.m. with a walk led by dogs and human cancer survivors. All other registered dogs and their owners will follow. All dogs registered will receive a goody bag and a bandanna. Anyone interested in having their furry friends participate is welcome to attend. Registration is $20 per pooch.
